Meeting Report - Jim Denaro

After the Nationals I was pretty sure that I had some stale Methanol so I got some fresh stuff and I thought the problem would be solved.

Saturday:

Our first qualifier was at 11:06 am and unfortunately it still felt the same as last time running 9.961 @ 134.28. We headed back into the lanes and ran at 1:32 pm it felt slightly better running 9.908 @ 134.95. One more run for the day at 3:50 pm much the same, it ran 9.953 @134.40.

Sunday:

Our last qualifier was at 9:46 am and apart from the.022 red-light it was good running 9.909 @134.97 we were ready for the first round.

Round 1: I put a little in the delay box for security and dialed in a 9.88 to my opponent George Routsis in his VL 9.00, I was able to back off running 9.94 for the win.

Round 2: I would face Bruno Romeo in his Fiat who dialed 9.36 to my 9.90 again I was able to back off to a 9.926 for the win.

Round 3: I was paired up against Phillip Azzopardi in his LH Torana dialing 8.95 to my 9.90 this one was a bit closer as I missed the start a bit but I was able to back off to 9.935 for the win.

Quarter final: I had to race Harry Plessas in his XY Falcon who is currently leading the track championship as he won round one, this would be a good chance to make a move in the series and get passed my quarter final hoodoo. He dialed 9.23 to my 9.90, I was out reacted 0.019 to 0.060 then he drove around me with a 9.244 to my perfect 9.900 to take the win and go on to win the meet.

It ended up a pretty good meeting with the car running consistent throughout eliminations albeit a little slower than I would like.

Thanks to all my crew for there help
