Meeting Report - Jim Denaro

After the last meeting with the car moving a bit on the start line I took the gearbox out to get that sorted, Igot the converter tweaked as well. We got to track and warmed it up then checked the transbrake and stall speed, it seemed ok but not much difference in stall rpm.

Our first qualifier was at 7:40pm Friday night and everything seemed good running 9.966 @ 134.23. The next run was at 9.35pm and it was much the same running 9.976 @ 134.14.

Our third qualifier was Saturday morning at 11.35am and the air was worse running 9.987 @ 134.31, so we would just check data, fuel up and head back into the lanes, the 4th and 5th qualifiers were 9.986 and 9.988, so we were confident going into round one where we would face Hakan Arif in his Falcon, I ran 9.985 on my 9.98 dial for the win to his 10.023 on his 9.65 dial. Round two saw us up against Greg Fowler in the S-10 Ute, he got the advantage of the line by .003  and ran 8.837 on his 8.83 dial for the win to my losing 10.029 on my 9.98 dial, he went on to win the meet. I have scored enough points in the track championship which has put me in third position. but am going to have to go further in these race meets to make a move for the top spot.

Thanks to all my crew and supporters, it’s been fun.
