Jim Denaro - Meeting Report

Still feeling the affects of the Queensland trip, I was struggling to get enthused about racing, but the way the Track Championship is you can’t afford to miss a round, so here we are at the local season opener.

We had our first qualifier at 10:52 am: The car ran sweet with a best ever 60ft and running through for a 9.835 @ 134.12. On the return road we were given my broken drive belt for the oil pump, when we got back and checked the data it showed that it happened after the finish line luckily. I went for a drive to get a new belt but couldn’t find one, we got back to the track and borrowed a smaller spare. (Thank you Timic Hot Rod Supplies)  I missed the fact that it had thrown the alternator belt so we would have to run without for the rest of the day.

Qualifier No 2 was at 12:56 pm and another PB to the 60ft going 1.347 and ran 9.805 @ 134.46. For the third run I switched lanes and the 60' wasn’t as quick but it ran 9.791 @ 136.62. Maybe I should run without an alternator. That was it for the day I will bring new belts out in the morning.

Sunday morning and we were up at 10:50 am and with alt belt back on it ran 9.845 @135.69. Happy enough with how the car is running I would just have to get my act together as I haven’t been able to cut a light better than .051 yet.

Round One was at 12:34 pm and I was facing Frank Oliveri, we decided on a 9.84 dial in to his 9.32 it was all over on the start line with a .004 red light in my lane wasting a perfect 9.84 at the other end.

While we were packing up they called for grudge runs so I headed out and had a run getting the red light out of the system and running 9.853, all good

Thanks to my crew for a great weekend.

Cheers.
