Tim Nielsen / Geoff Wright - Meeting Report
In the short off season Geoff had decided to Freshin up the motor, put a different cam in, as well as a diff ratio change, we would use this Test n Tune to sort a few things out ready for the new ADR Season.
With everything running all right in the pits, we were ready to hit the track. Our main goal today was to go straight and hopefully run a few PB's. Before today the BOSS BULLET has gone as quick as 7.79.
Before I got strapped in I had noticed that Geoff had put 7.79 on the Dial In board on the scoop. I changed it to 7.78.5 LOL
Our first pass was at 10:22am, the conditions were almost perfect. The burnout was strong with not alot of RPM, this engine makes some good torque, so there is no need to flog it. I left with a .044 light and the dragsters 60' was 1.111
Our ET was a PB for both Dragster and Driver running 7.785. Not bad for the run in pass.
You could say that the Team was a little excited (That would be an understatement). We checked over everything once back in the pits, and all was good. We left the same tune up in the dragster and headed out. I changed my gloves back to my old ones, as they are a little thinner and I have more feel in them.
RUN No 2
11:48am I left with a .021 light, wheels up 1.122 60' , picked up almost 1 MPH at half track and running another PB, this time 7.775 @ 171.10. ALL GOOD.
Time to play with the Tune Up. That is what a Test n Tune is all about. I took .006 out of the Delay box.
RUN No 3
2:15pm the burnout felt a little flat. I left with a .015 light which was good. Our 60' was a little slower, which effected the whole run. We ran 7.847 @ 169.68. The result was not what we were looking for (You don't know until you try). For our next pass we went the opposite wasy from run 1 and 2. Sounded and felt alot better before we took it out.
RUN No 4
3:53pm I took another .004 out of the Delay box - left with a .003 light, our 60' was 1.113 the rest of the time card didn't look that bad either, we ran PB number 3 for the day 7.771 @ 171.10 All Good.
We would only get one more pass in for the day, so we might as well make one more change to the engine and see how we go. Geoff wanted to play around with the timing.
RUN No 5
I left the Delay box alone for our final pass, and left with a .011 light our 60' time was much the same, but it felt a little flat in the top end. We ran 7.810 @ 170.45.
A good days Testing, with everything coming up A OK.
We will come out to the next Test n Tune before the Nationals and continue with some ignition timing, as well as putting the Hoozier slicks of my dragster and see how it runs.
Thanks to the whole Team for a great day.
Geoff, Rod, Jimmy, Cassandra and Cheyenne.
