Tim Nielsen - Meeting Report
We all arrived at the track early and got things set up pretty quickly. I borrowed some awnings of Fred from Protrans, as it was going to get really hot today.
Because it was a hot day I decided that I would lean the engine one set of numbers in the carby.
With the dragster warmed up and ready for the first qualifier we headed for the staging lanes.
The dragster felt a little off during the burnout, but I proceeded to get into stage. The tree came down and at half track it felt like I had turned the tyres really bad, then it seemed to hook up and motored to the finish line. When we got the time card, the 60ft time was really off, but the dragster felt fine off the line. The ET was shocking 8.81 @ 154 mph.
We looked at some plugs when we got back and the engine looked a little on the lean side, as the EGT reading on the run were a lot higher than they should have been. I richened the engine back and while checking for any leaks before we started it, we noticed that the fuel pump didn't sound right. On closer inspection the pump was rooted, and our day was done.
Later on in the day Des Curnow offered me the use of his pump which was back at his factory. We went and got it but not in time for Eliminations. The track was kind enough to let us do some test passes. Hour after hour we waited for a test run, but to no joy, we had, had enough and packed up and went home.
I ordered a Brand New pump from Summit Racing, 7 days later it was back in the chassis and ready to go.
Jim Denaro - Meeting Report
After the last meeting I put another set of diff gears in. It was a stinking hot day, thank god Tim borrowed some shelter, other wise we would of melted.
First qualifying pass was at 8:47am, the shifter was playing up again, no joy. My second qualifier was at 10:31am and I set a new world record running 3.618 with no mph recorded. (obviously the timing system played up). The run felt really good too, so I was a bit pissed off. The track gave me another qualifier to compensate for the foul up with the timing system. I got straight back around and had another pass, this time the car ran 10.516 @ 134.50. Back to the pits and got the car ready for the final qualifier, in which I had to settle with shifting manually for the remainder of the meeting. 12:21pm  and shifting manually the car ran 10.299 @ 134.50 so I was ready for round 1.
I dialed in the car at 10.25 I ran against a black Mustang which dialed in 9.60 so I had a bit of a head start. This race was won in the deep end with him breaking out by .006
Round 2 and I left the dial in alone and the race was won on the tree, with me leaving witha a .056 to his .214 I ran 10.39 @ 126 mph off the throttle early.
Round 3 and I was up against Neil Constantinou, I adjusted my dial in to 10.28 as advised by Des Curnow. Neil cut a .025 light to my .069 and it was very close at the stripe, with me breaking out running 10.25 (thanks Des). All in all it was a good race meeting, and I will go home again and try to work out this bloody shifter.
