Tim Nielsen - Meeting Report
We arrived at the track pretty early on Friday afternoon
as we had a few thing to do before we hit the track.
Firstly we had to get scrutineered as we were on the
audit list. Once all the paperwork was completed we were
back in the pits adjusting the new fuel system. With the
dragster warmed up, we were ready to hit the track.
There was only around 80 cars for this event, so we were
hoping that we could get a handful of runs in.

| Our first pass was at
5:54pm. Everything felt and seemed ok until we got the
timecard back. Our 60ft time was off big time, the track
felt sticky under foot, but the 60 was just not there.
We adjusted the fuel system and changed jets then headed
out for our second pass at 7:00pm. Our 60ft was the same
while the EGT readings were really high for this run.
Back in the pits we pulled the plugs out of the engine
they all looked fine. We adjusted the float levels on
the carby then headed out for our third pass at 7:44pm. |

Our EGT got back to were
they should be, but the 60ft stayed the same as the
previous two pass. We finally came to the conclusion
that the start line conditions were not that favourable
on the night. We made a few more adjustments back in the
pits then headed out for another pass. Our 60ft improved
and finally we were heading in the right direction. I
had a good run against Paul Partridge in his Big Block
powered Mustang, a good side by side pass up until the
1000ft mark until the Big Block powered took over.
With that being run number 497 on my engine, we decided
that if we could finish on 499 runs for the evening we
would be happy. It was 9:39pm and we backed up the
previous pass with the time slip being almost identical.
Back in the pits we made one more adjustment to the fuel
system, then headed back out for our last pass for the
evening. When we arrived at the start of the staging
lanes the barriers were up and the lanes were closed for
the night. We went down anyway and they allowed us
through for one last pass. It was 10:30pm and run number
499. We proceeded with a long burnout and everything
improved on the run and this being the quickest pass of
the night.
Next meeting will be run number 500 on my Aluminium
Rodded Small Block Chev. |
